Crucially, the Wikipedia search result on carbon offsets (Source 3.2) explicitly notes that methane from “livestock” is a major source of carbon offsets, and another report (Source 3.9) details VCM opportunities in “Improved Livestock Management.” DevvStream’s broad mandate includes generating these types of credits from “nature-based” projects, which often include practices in the livestock sector. Furthermore, their publicly stated purchase of credits for the Ipixuna REDD+ Project (Source 3.5) is for conservation, which often has positive co-benefits for wildlife but is not a direct exploitative act. However, the business model includes carbon offsets from sectors known for animal exploitation.
