Newmont Corporation, based in Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA, is a mining company, founded in 1916 by William Boyce Thompson as a diversified holding company, with active gold mines in Nevada, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Ghana and Peru. As of the third quarter of 2014, Newmont was the world’s second-largest producer of gold, behind Barrick Gold.
